Laying Pipe Below the Spring
Community members volunteer to help dig trenches and lay the new conduction piping that will convey water from the new spring to the rest of the existing water system.

Nighttime Water Quality Testing
RMP volunteers Leah Pope and Cole Davis test water samples from different parts of Sumal Grande's water system.

Trenching Across Farmland
Community members continue laying pipe to connect the new spring to the existing water system.

Trenching With a View
Community members connect pipe above a house with a view, with surrounding hills and a patchwork of farmland in the background, near the end of this trench segment.

Finishing the Chlorinator
The professional masons put a final coat of stucco on the exterior of the new chlorinator box.

New Float Valve
One of the four new float valves is shown at distribution tank #2. The valves will shut off water flow to each tank when water in the tank reaches a certain level, thereby maintaining water in the tanks higher in the system.

New Flow Meter
RMP volunteer Dave Caley shows water committee members how to read the dials on one of the new flow meters installed near Tank 1. Collecting flow meter data will allow RMP to quantify water supply and demand in the community, and inform how well the current system is functioning.

Water System Improvements Dedication Ceremony
RMP volunteer Dave Caley shares his thoughts on the success of this year's implementation trip with a large gathering of community members during the dedication ceremony.

Token of Appreciation
The Sumal Grande Water Committee stands with the RMP travel team, holding a banner made for the team by women in the community. The banner reads: "Memento for Engineers Without Borders, Colorado - USA, for the Water System Expansion in the Village of Sumal Grande, Nebaj Region, Department of El Quiche, Guatemala, March 2017"
